INDEX

[10596] This would be the 4th Martin, son of the 2nd William often refered to as
William, "Jr."
=====================================================================

Maxey's Analysis of data:

I believe that this William Middleton, "Jr." (d. 1790-1794) is the father
of Martin Middleton (d. 1820), Peninah's husband-he owned land ("Weavers
Old Field") that had been granted to William (Marion Co. Deed Book I, pp.
409-411), and with Sarah Middleton was a trustee when Hodge, son of
William and Sarah, was deeded the slave Sip by John Middleton in
accordance with William's will (Marion Co. Deed Book A, p. 84). John was
probably William's oldest son, since he appears to be handling the
estate, and in an 1802 deposition he stated that he and Martin were
brothers. Hodge was a witness when Martin sold land to John in 1803
(Marion Co. Deed Book F, p. 214). This is the John who m. Elizabeth and
moved to Franklin Co., Mississippi, rather than the later John who m.
Delilah (Coleman?) and was a soldier in the War of 1812. William
Middleton, whose 1803 estate was administered by Drury White, was
probably also a son of William, as was perhaps Willis Middleton. It is
really unfortunate that William's will was recorded in the Georgetown
District records destroyed by Sherman in 1865-it would probably clarify
these relationships.

Info based on the following:

Pemmy (her mark) Middleton wife of Martin Middleton - ref:F214-215 dated
16 Sep 1803

Martin Middleton [Jr.?]. Born before 1773. In 1802 buys 560 a. se side
Peedee adjacent land once owned by John Middleton. Married to Pemmey

Not sure if this is the Martin referenced here: The Middletons
accumulated land until around 1805, when they began selling. In 1806
Willis sold 2 tracts originally part of the Martin Sr. grant on Toby's
Creek, and in 1807 he sold land on Alran's Bay that he had received from
John. Also in 1807 Martin sold his 444 acre farm and residence.

In 1816 Martin buys, from several different people, their "right to tract
granted to William Middleton called Weavers old field."

A Martin Middleton applied for passport to pass through the Creek nation,
April 21, 1808, don't think it is this one.
